Clarence G. Abbey, 74, a former Fond du Lac resident who moved to Peshtigo in 1981, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 1984, at Pine View Health Care Center, Peshtigo.

He was born Sept. 27, 1909, In Fond du Lac, the son of Chester and Ida Breitengross Abbey.

He married Lorna Henquist on Jan. 7, 1981, at Harmony, Wis.

Mr. Abbey was formerly employed by the U.S. Postal Service here for 31 years, retiring Dec. 29, 1967, as a rural mail carrier.

He served with Company M, 127th Infantry Brigade 32nd Infantry Division from 1927 until Dec. 8, 1941, attaining the rank of second lieutenant.

Mr. Abbey served on the board of directors of the Federal Credit Union for 38 years.
He retired in March of 1978 as president/treasuer due to ill health.

He was a member of the 127th Infantry Association, National Association of Letter Carriers, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Red Arrow Club and Harmony United Methodist Church.

Visitation for Mr. Abbey will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Berth-Rosenthal Funeral Home. Peshtigo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harmony United Methodist Church. The Rev. William Morton will officiate. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, services will be conducted at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Pine View Health Care Center, Peshtigo.
