Ernest Allen Buckner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wall Buckner, was born near Melrose, November 12, 1884, and died at his home in Terre haute on march 10, 1920, aged 35 years, 3 months and 28 days.

On September 12, he was united in marriage to Katherine Koppler of Anderson Township. This union was blessed with two sons, Albert Allen, aged 13 years and Everett Carl, aged 11 years.
At the age of 19 years, he was united with the Hall United Brethren Church near Melrose and remained true to the faith until his death.

He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, two sons, father, mother, one brother, Ed of Ann Arbor, one sister, Mrs. George Spangler of West Union and a host of other relatives and friends. His brother Carl died about five years ago. He was a true husband and father and friend to everyone. Just before he died, he told his wife there was nothing between him and his God. He was known among his fellow workers as a true friend and of sterling character. Through him, many workers of the shop were converted His foreman speaks of him in the highest terms.

The funeral services were held at Ohio Chapel conducted by Rev. Bert Eckel and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery nearby.
