Sarah Elizabeth Conger

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Conger, 94, of Waycross died Friday night at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness. She was born in Floyd County, Georgia to the late Shields R. Adair and Ellen Davis Adair.

Mrs. Conger made her home in Lexington, Georgia before moving to Waycross in 1980. She was a housewife and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waycross. Mrs. Conger was also a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy, Pinecone Garden Club, Woman's Club and was a Housemother of the University of Georgia. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Talmadge Conger, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth C. McEuen and her husband Archie of Waycross, a son, John T. Conger, III of Waycross, Georgia, seven grandchildren, Margaret Turk and her husband Hal of Johnston, South Carolina, Rex McEuen and his wife Shellie of Patterson, Georgia, Phillip McEuen and his wife Robin of Alpharetta, Georgia, Ellen Cox and her husband John of Waycross, Georgia, Joan Conger of Louisiana, Laura Conger of England, Mary Tindall and her husband Jeff of Little Rock, Arkansas, seven great grandchildren, Dustin Cox, Darren Cox, Eli McEuen, John Luke McEuen, Isabelle McEuen, Nicholas Tindall, Thomas A. Tindall, one great great grandson, Colt Cox, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Monday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Monday at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday at Clark Cemetery in Lexington, Georgia. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 601 Hill Street, Waycross, Georgia 31501 or the Southeast Cancer Unit, Inc., 401 Pendleton Street, Waycross, Georgia 31501.
