Reuben, eldest s. of Ens. Thomas Robinson and his first wife Annah, b. Jan. 17, 1724/5 at Windham, Conn. He was bapt. by Rev. Salmon Treat at Preston, Conn. Apr. 17, 1726.

On Jan. 12, 1748/9 at the Scotland Soc. Church, then in Windham, Reuben m. Esther Palmer, dau. of Seth Palmer and Elizabeth Cary, b. June 1, 1730 in Windham. The birth of Reuben and Esther's nine known children are recorded at Windham, Conn. and except for first born dau. Esther, who died at one day old, the children all appear in the baptism and/or marriage records of the Scotland, Conn. church, then the third ecclesiastical society in the Town of Windham. In the same records Reuben and wife Esther are stated as being members of that church in Jan. 1808. The Town of Scotland was not separated from Windham until 1857.

When Reuben d. is not presently known but likely in 1812. He d. testate in Windham, Conn. having written his will on Mar. 8, 1808 naming youngest s. Eliel as executor. The will names wife Esther, with s. Eliel to provide her with her necessities, and bequeathed five shillings each to sons Clifford and Reuben, and the same amount to daus. Zipporah, Hannah, Esther and Asenath, said sums to be paid within one year after his decease. He bequeathed to granddau. Chloe Robinson, dau. of his deceased son Zophar, household furniture to the value of $20, and all of the rest and residue of the estate to s. Eliel. Son Eliel's bond as executor was executed Sept. 4, 1812 with the estate inventoried Sept. 12, 1812 totaling $657.76, of which $480 was the value of the 20 acre homestead, subsequently ordered to be sold. The inventory infers that wife Esther was now also deceased. Although the cost of Reuben's coffin was accounted for in Eliel's account, no charge was debited for a gravestone.

Reuben and Esther had the following nine children in Windham:

• i. Esther Robinson, b. July 18, 1749, d. the following day.

His widow was living in Hampton, Conn. in 1836, judged insane for many years, and applied through her conservator for a Rev. War widow's pension, which was granted at the rate of $100 per year. They had one child, dau. Chloe, b. after Zophar's death, who is included in her paternal grandfather Reuben Robinson's 1808 will.
