Mrs. Jemima Jane Fischer, 66, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Miller (Genevieve) of Chicago, following a short illness.
Mrs. Fischer was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Freeman, pioneer residents of Springfield. Mr. Freeman was a patent writer here and lived across the street from the present postoffice. The property is still in the Freeman family.
She is the widow of H.S. Fischer, income tax accountant who died in 1931. With her host of friends she was known as "Jimmie".
She is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Jack Brightfield (Marena) of Hutchinson , Kansas, and Mrs. Walter Woodruff (Henrietta) of Springfield; one son, L.M. Fischer of Springfield; two brothers, Ben and Gabe Freeman of Springfield, two sisters, Mrs. G.G. Givens (Myrtle) of Springfield and Mrs. Alice Sage of Bakersfield, Cal., and five grandchildren, Horatio and Jacqueline Brightfield, Richard Miller, Maxine and Jerry Fischer.
