Michelle L. Tanner, age 37, of Beaver, W.Va., passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at her residence following a sudden illness.
Born Sept. 15, 1972, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Dale and Brenda Warrick of Oak Hill, and Kassie Sowder-Warrick and her companion, Michael Moss, of Lake Norman, N.C.
Michelle was a homemaker and a member of Little Valley Baptist Church of Maple Fork.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Jackson Tanner II and Caleb Matthew Tanner; her maternal grandparents, Albert "Buck" and Madgie "Beauty" Sowder of Maple Fork; her paternal grandparents, Floyd "Mop" and Margie Warrick of Oak Hill; and a father-in-law, Roy Tanner.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 13 years, Richard Tanner of Beaver; three daughters; four stepchildren, Hunter Jackson Duncan, Nicole Tyler Tanner, Ally Denise Meadows and Brooke Elaine Tanner; a brother, Jason Janney of Oak Hill; sisters, Jennifer Collins and husband, Harry, of Jonesville, N.C., Mandy Mills and husband, David, of Fairdale, Michelle Gilland and husband, Roger, of Columbia, S.C., and Jennifer Janney and companion, Daniel Pittman, of Oak Hill; a special mother-in-law, Doris Tanner of Beaver; four sisters-in-law, Kathy Tanner, Regina Hensley, Marilyn Lilly and Leslie Brooks ; a brother-in-law, Roy Tanner Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Michelle's life will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, at the Rose and Quesenberry Chapel in Shady Spring, with the Rev. Junior Plumley officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill, where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Rose and Quesenberry Chapel in Shady Spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of sympathy be made to the Tanner family at 510 Skyline Drive, Beaver, WV 25813.
