Paul Dewey Rogers, 77, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Knoxville, the son of John Tilford Rogers and Minnie Belle Hensley Rogers, both now deceased.
Mr. Rogers retired from Dean Stallings Ford, where he worked as a mechanic. After retirement, he went to work in the bakery of Food City and worked there until his health began to fail.
He was an active member of Heritage Fellowship and served as the bus driver for the youth choir. He also very much enjoyed cooking, his family said.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Lucille Kathryn Snyder Rogers. The couple would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in July.
Also surviving are his son, Gary Paul Rogers of Knoxville; his daughter, Judy Rogers Steadman and her husband, Chick, of Peachtree City, Ga.; his brothers, Bob Rogers of Knoxville and Roy Rogers of Nashville; his sisters, Lois Johnson of Knoxville and Helen Babb of Fayetteville, Ga.; and his granddaughter, Melissa Robinson of Newnan, Ga.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by another sister, Grace Parks, and three other brothers, Ralph Rogers, Earl Rogers and Drexel Rogers.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Heritage Fellowship. The Rev. James C. Bandy, the Rev. Fred Garmon and the Rev. Ed Denham will officiate.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Heritage Fellowship.
