Roger received his primary education at rural school District #18 in Phelps County and graduated from Holdrege (Nebraska) High School with the class of 1946. Following his education, Roger engaged in farming with his father and brother. On November 21, 1953 he was united in marriage to Margery Youngquist and to this union four daughters were born: Joyce, Janice, Harriet and Wendy. The family continued to make their home on the family farm southeast of Funk, where Roger was born and where his life also came full circle with his passing on December 3, 2009. His life was centered around farming and Roger loved the labor of the land his entire working career.
Roger was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, of Holdrege, Nebraska where he was involved in many capacities. As a youth he enjoyed playing Legion Baseball and football for Holdrege, Nebraska. He loved to attend his grandchildren's activities, sporting events and programs. Throughout the years, Roger had many friendship bonds formed playing cards and having coffee at the Coffee Cup Café in Funk. He was an avid New York Yankees fan.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Margery Abrahamson of rural Funk, Nebraska; daughters: Janice Abrahamson of Axtell, Nebraska, Harriet Reese and her husband, Tim, and Wendy Skallberg and her husband, John all of Holdrege, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Laurene Abrahamson of Holdrege, Nebraska; brothers-in-law: Carroll Hanson of Holdrege, Nebraska and Rodney Youngquist and his wife, Donna of Lincoln, Nebraska; and a host of relatives and friends.
Roger was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by his parents, Wilhelm and Ethel Abrahamson; daughter, Joyce Ann Abrahamso; brother, Paul Wilhelm Abrahamson; sister and brother-in-law, Anna Louise "Violet" Grove and E. "Dale" Grove; and sister-in-law, Marlene Hanson.
