Mrs. Mamie S. Brown, 84, formerly of 816 Clover St., died today in St. Anthony's Hospital, Michigan City, after a short illness. She had resided in the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. W. Lewis, Michigan City, for the last year. She was born on Nov. 24, 1882, in De Witt, Mo., and came to South Bend 24 years ago from Tefft, Ind.
In addition to Mrs. Lewis, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Grace Thompson of Royal Center, Ind., and Mrs. Leona Crawford of South Bend; five sons, Rev. Raymond Brown of Michigan City, Orville of Ithaca, N. Y., Cleatis of New Carlisle, Ross of Bremen and Edgar of South Bend; 21 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Downs of Anton, Tex., Mrs. Nellie Wininger of Elk City, Okla., Mrs. Ethel Bennett of Independence, Kan., and Mrs. Blanche Shaw of Breckenridge, Tex.; and four brothers, Fred Adkins of Independence, Kan., George Lindsey of Oklahoma, Wilber of Aurora, Mo., and Ralph of Bremen.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday in the Forest G. Hay and Son Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Whitehead, of Niles, will officiate at services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church, Michigan City.
