The sixth of ten children of Margaret Alyne (Maggie) Breeden (1869-1921) and Harvey Quitman Yarborough (1858-1949), Hoy married Gussie Williams (1904-1989) 3 April 1921 in St. Helena Parish, LA. The couple, who farmed, had six children, three boys and three girls. One of their boys died as a young child.
