Estella "Moma Stella" Alford, 99, former Rockford resident, departed this earthly life Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, in Louisville, Ky., after a long illness. Born Feb. 19, 1910, the daughter of Pleaz and Eva Eason. Estella lived in Rockford since 1940, coming from West Virginia, moving to Kentucky in 2008. Married Glover Alford; he preceded her in death.

Member of New Zion Church for more than 30 years, serving in the senior choir, Voice of Zion and with the Kitchen Committee. She attended schools in Alabama.

Estella leaves to cherish many loving memories, daughter, Charlene Fletcher; four grandchildren; sis great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Predeceased by daughter, Eva Brown; parents; and brother Henry Eason.

Services were held Friday, Dec. 4, in New Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. K. Edward Copeland officiating.
