Alva Jenkins Services Held, Burial at Homer
Funeral services for Alva C. (Tude) Jenkins, 86, rural Dakota City, who died Friday at a Pender Hospital after a long illness, were held Monday at the Jack Becker Funeral Home, South Sioux.
The Rev. Curtis F. Trenhaile, pastor of the First Methodist Church at Dakota City, officiated. Burial was in the Omaha Valley Cemetery near Homer.
Pallbearers were Ivan Krumwiede, Harold O'Connor, Bud Vassar, Manuel Trimble, Jack Bartels and J. Colin Green.
Mr. Jenkins was born February 20, 1886 in Richardson County, Nebraska. He married Garney B. Freel March 11, 1908, at Pender. They moved to Dakota county from Rosalie, Nebraska in 1950. Mr. Jenkins retired from farming in 1966.
Survivors include the widow; two sons, Frank and Duane, both of Dakota City; a daughter Mrs, Marjorie Dettimer of Louisville, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
