Death comes to John Beal

John I. Beal, 88, passed away at the Mary Lanning Memorial hospital at Hastings on Tuesday following an operation on June 28. He had been ill only a short time. He attained the age of 88 years and 10 days.

Born in Ohio on July 2, 1861, he came with his pioneer parents to Webster county in 1874. They settled in the Elm Creek community southwest of Blue Hill where he continued farming until 1929. During that year, he with his wife, before her marriage, Miss Mina Conrad, who was also a member of a pioneer family of the Elm Creek community moved to Blue Hill where he lived until his death. Mrs. Beal passed away in 1934.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Dow Beal of Holbrook and one sister, Mrs. S.W. Frisbie of Red Cloud, also one granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Blue Hill on Thursday afternoon at two o’clock conducted by the pastor, the Rev. C.E. Ruch. Burial was in Blue Hill Cemetery, with Merten Brothers Funeral Home in charge.
