Addison Baker was born in Rockingham County, Virginia, the 4 June 1849. With his parents he moved to McLean County, IL. in the fall of 1855, where the family settled on a farm 5 miles south of Bloomington. His mother was called to her reward when Addison was still a child. He grew to manhood under the care and supervision of his father. His general occupation during the active days of his life was farming and stock rising.

On February 17, 1875, he was married to Miss Martha Gillan and 5 children were born to this union. Two died in infancy, and John C. died December 19, 1916, at the age of 30 years.

On February 5, 1885 the family moved from McLean County, IL. to Webster County where they settled on a farm 3 miles west of Blue Hill. They moved to Blue Hill in September 1901, in order that the children might be educated.

Mrs. Baker passed away at the family home in Blue Hill on February 19, 1930.

Mr. Baker was quite a student of the Bible and enjoyed quoting scripture as applied to his every-day life.

The deceased, throughout his life, took an active interest in community affairs; one of his latest works being that of his assistance in beautifying our local cemetery. He had donated much time, effort and money in the belief that our city of the dead should be one of our local beauty spots.

He is survived by his one son, Frank of Sidney, Nebraska, and daughter, Grace, at home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 1, 1937, at the Blue Hill Christian Church, in charge Rev. R.O. Gaither. Burial in the Blue Hill Cemetery.
