EX-DEPUTY SHERIFF ORTLEPP, 43, DIES

Clarence Ortlepp, 43, former Calumet County deputy sheriff, died suddenly Sunday at the Plymouth hospital. Mr. Ortlepp became ill at Saukville while enroute home from Waukegan to his home at Hilbert. He was taken to the Plymouth hospital but died shortly after suffering a heart attack.
Mr. Ortlepp was returning to Hilbert with his wife and son and a sister, Mrs. Viola Aebischer of here. The group spent the day at Waukegan, ill, as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Willette. Mrs. Willette is the daughter of Mrs. Aebischer.
He was born Feb. 3, 1905, in the town of Rantoul. On Oct. 22, 1924, he was married to Miss Adela Holtz at Potter.
He worked as a railroadman until suffering a loss of an arm several years ago. During the past two years the family lived at Hilbert, where Mr. Ortlepp had been a police officer. He was also employed as a trucker at Al Baer of Potter for about five years.
Mr. Ortlepp was well known in sport circles as in this early years he was an outstanding basketball player, playing both at Potter and Hilbert. He was also active during the baseball season as he served for many years as an umpire in the Eastern Wisconsin league.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Clarence, Jr., of Hilbert and the sister, Mrs. Aebischer of here.
Funeral services will be held today at the Techtman Funeral home at Hilbert and at Peace Reformed church, Potter. The Rev. Marvin Lehman of Brillion will officiate and burial will be made in the family lot in the Potter cemetery.
