Mrs. Stanley was born in Chelyan County, W.Va., in 1907. She graduated from Cabin Creek District High School and attended West Virginia Tech.
She was an elementary school teacher in Cedar Grove, W.Va., from 1925 to 1936. She and her husband, Ray Stanley, whom she married in 1930, moved to Charleston, W.Va., in 1936 and to Richmond, Va., in 1941.
In 1945, the Stanleys and their two children came to Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Stanley was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She complemented her roles as a homemaker and parent by teaching at the Highland View Day Care Center during the late 1960s and early 1970s, her family said.
A widow since 1978, she is survived by her daughter, Judy Rae Stanley of Friendsville; her son, Dr. Jay Stanley of Baltimore, Md.; her grandson, Hart Stanley; her sister, Naomi Cowan of Belpre, Ohio; and her brother, Seth Lewis of Thousand Oaks, Calif.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 13, in the chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Burial was at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
