Emily L. Harden was called Emma by all. She was the daughter of Samuel Harden and Eliza Jane Swain. Her father was a harness maker and book author. Emma lived in the Markleville area until the 1870's. Her family then moved into the city of Anderson, Indiana. She continued to live at home with her family, including her daughter Callie, as she helped run their boarding house. She married William Washington Stultz in June of 1902. Before 1920 Emma, Wm., Callie and Emma's sister Anna moved to Spiceland.
