William was the Husband of Elizabeth and the Father of Willie and Saxon. He purchased the property where the cemetery now lies from the Widowed wife of John N. Spearing in 1884. The Cemetery and all the property is now part of the Theodore Roosevelt preserve near Fort Caroline

WILLIAM BROWNE SR.

The friends and clients of William Browne Sr., will regret to learn of his sudden death at his home Shell Mount, Fulton, Fla, Tuesday, June 29. Mr. Browne was born October 28, 1850, Brownsville, Jefferson County, New York. He was a prominent lawyer and attorney for the City Bank, New York City, and came to Florida in 1877 in which state he resided and practiced law up to shortly before his death. The funeral services were held in the parlors of the Marcus Conant Company. The body was then taken to Shell Mount and interred on the land he loved so well, among many lovely flowers sent by loving friends and relatives. Mr. Browne is survived by his wife and two sons, William H. Browne, and Saxon W. Browne.
