Katherine M. Beach, 90, formerly of Tipton, died at at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana. She was born in Howard County on October 13, 1918 to Neve and Katherine (Zittinger) Baker. Since the age of 5, she had been raised by John and Jeanette Horton of Tipton. She married Fred L. Beach in 1936 and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1982.
Katherine had retired in 1980 from Perfect Circle, Dana Corporation after 30 years of service. She had attended Friends Church in Kokomo and also West Street Christian Church. She was a life member of Verus Cordis Sorority and belonged to the Elks Lodge. Katherine liked to bowl and enjoyed her sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great granddaughter.
She is survived by two sons, Larry L. Beach and wife Sharolyn of Winamac and Lanny J. Beach and wife Carolyn of Kokomo; one sister, Berniece Gordon of Tipton; five grandchildren, Jeff & Renae Beach, Brad & Mary Beach, Michael & Sarah Beach, Cathy & Michael Strawn, and Shanda & Tom Dessel; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 22, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, Tipton, with Rev. Walter Ungerer presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.
