Born on father's farm known as Locust Grove. Moved to Columbiana County, Ohio and married Rosina Catharine Rauscher 6 December 1838. Left Ohio in 1855 and moved to Spencer County, Indiana. They were the parents of ten children: Samuel; Daniel C; Soloman; Oscar Fitzlan; Charles W; John Andrew; Mary Louise; Albert Rinaldo, Waldo Emerson, and Marion Rembrandt.
