After he married Martha Vest, her parents "gave them land and they built a log cabin 18 by 20 feet. They had 13 children, six girls and seven sons. His wife died at this place, at the top of White Oak mountain." The 13 children may include Edward's two children with his second wife. His second wife's maiden name was Mary Josephine Wallace. Mary was previously married to Berry Adkins and James Floyd Cadle. (See Mary's Find a Grave page for more information.)
