Emma married Chauncy Hopkins Jr. September 16, 1949.

Stanotn- Emma J. Hopkins, 78, of Fenwick, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at home with her family. Emma was born April 26, 1931, in Lansing to Clara (Meacham) and William Forest. On Sept 16, 1949, she married Chauncey Hopkins Jr. in Ionia. Emma and Chauncy bought some land, cleared it and turned it into their farm and home. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, gardening and yard sales and made the best turtle soup. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Everyone called her grandma and each year everyone recieved a homemade birthday cake. She had definite opinions about many things and was very loving.

Emma is survived by her children, Chauncy B. and Catherine Hopkins, Gary and Bonnie Hopkins, Barry Hopkins, Belinda Corder, Teresa and James Powers, all of Fenwick; 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary and Carl Dalton of Hubbardston, Zella and Russell Curtis of Saranac; brother, Richard and Esther Forest of Carson City; sisters-in-laws, Edith Hopkins and Pearl Hopkins of Fenwick; and special friends, Mamie Schneike and Freda Rowley.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son Perry; a great-granddaughter; sister, Viola; and brother, Bud.

Hopefully no one was forgotten because she loved you all.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Bible Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Lois Glass officiating. Burial in Sunny Hill Cemetery.

Emma's family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Barden Funeral Home, Stanton.
