Connecticut Governor. While serving as Lieutenant Governor, he was elevated in December 1946 to the governorship of Connecticut when Raymond E. Baldwin resigned to assume the seat in the United States Senate he had won in the November election. Snow served out the remainder of Baldwin's term – 13 days – from December 27, 1946 to January 8, 1947. Outside of politics, he was a published author and professor of English at a number of colleges and universities. In 1921 he began a 31-year teaching career at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. During his last year of teaching, he also was a United States State Department lecturer in Europe and Asia. An elementary school in Middletown dedicated in 1955 is named in his honor.
