JOHN HOWELL OF CHALFANTS
John Howell, one of the best known residents of the Chalfant vicinity, was buried at Union, services being conducted by Rev. Mr. Lewis. Deceased was born in Belmont county Dec. 5, 1814 and Phebe Seward became his wife Jan. 26, 1837. Four sons and four daughters survive him. Mrs. Howell died in 1879, and in 1881 he was married to Edna Green. He was a faithful member of Union M. E. church until he became a member of Chalfant church where he was always found in his pew when his health permitted. Mr. Howell lived 75 years in Coshocton county and 61 years on his farm in Washington township.
