Rufina "Ruth" Perea Rivera, a resident of Barstow Calif., for 55 years, entered into the arms of Our Lord on Dec. 5. Ruth was born to parents, Tony and Evan Perea, in Los Lentes on July 27, 1923, attending both elementary and high school here.

She was a homemaker most of her life, but also spent some time as a cook, doing child care and caring for the elderly. Her goal was to be a good mother and always keeping her children first in her life. She was active as a volunteer in Barstow with the Newberry Mission, Grandview Baptist Church, St. Joseph Catholic Church and Calvary Chapel.

Ruth was a very happy person and loved to dance and dress up for special occasions. She loved getting together with all her family and had a grand celebration on her 80th birthday at her favorite restaurant, Domingo's. Her heritage was important to her, and she enjoyed Mexican music. She also enjoyed watching the news and sports on television, especially Dodgers baseball.

Ruth is survived by a daughter, Lydia Baisa and her husband, Steve, of Barstow; a son, Salomon Baca and his wife, Clara, of New Mexico; grandchildren, Dino and Carrie Baca, Belinda and Johnny Espinoza, Tina Baisa and Donna Kuss, all of Barstow; Weneses and Valarie Baca, Wenses Baca Jr., Jo Jo Baca and Barbara Chavez, all of New Mexico; Rico Baca of Victorville, Calif.; Anthony Esquivel of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Jessie Luna of Utah and Connie Gallegos of New Mexico; brothers, Lalo Perea of New Mexico, Ruben Perea of Los Angeles and Herman Perea and his wife, Rachel, of Pico Rivera, Calif. She is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Evan Perea; son, Wenses Baca; daughter, Rose Ann Esquivel; grandson, Rene Esquivel; great-grandson, James Rene Baisa; sister, Agnes Garcia; and brothers, Johnny and Pete Perea.
