HONEYWELL, Lois Marie, 69, died May 4, 2009, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in New Port Richey, Fla., following an eight-year struggle against breast cancer. She was born August 14, 1939, in Washington D.C., to Elliott Dayton and Georgia Miltie (Simmons) Osgood. She married Alfred Parks Honeywell, son of Elmer Clarence and Marian Louise (Parks) Honeywell, in Gaithersburg, Md., July 20, 1968. Surviving her are her husband, Parks; brother, Charles Edgar Osgood (Barbara) of Boise, Idaho; stepson, James Parks Honeywell (Kathy); grand-daughter, Christine Jennifer Honeywell of Vernon Hills, Ill.; nieces, Rebecca Lynn Gochnour (Derek) of Boise and Melissa Jane Osgood (Alex Gardner) of Seattle, Wash.; and godchild, Georgia Myers Smith of Accokeek, Md. Lois graduated from Surattsville High School, Md., in 1957, and Strayer College, Washington D.C., where she received an Associate in Arts degree in business in 1958. In 1980, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from De Paul University in Chicago, and in 1984, a Master of Arts degree in business and human resource development from the National College of Education in Evanston, Ill. Lois was an executive congressional assistant on Capitol Hill; office manager for Ross Perot' s Washington office of Electronic Data Systems, and at Nuclear Utility Services Corp, was assistant secretary-treasurer of Consultec, a subsidiary company; and owner-proprietor of several business services. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Trinity, Fla., where she served as membership secretary. She volunteered for many community activities, and this work brought her a wide variety of friends, whom she mentored with her sympathetic fellowship. For 19 years, she was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in districts 7 and 9, where she was qualified as radio watch-stander, boat crew member and instructor. She served as staff officer-secretary and publications staff officer at the Clearwater and Dunedin, Fla., and Alexandria Bay, N.Y., flotillas. Lois, an avid genealogist, was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution' s Caladesi, Fla., chapter. She had 12 patriot ancestors proven with the DAR. She was also a member of the Mayflower Society, having proven descent from her Mayflower ancestor, Stephen Hopkins. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at Hope United Methodist Church, 2200 Little Road, Trinity, Fla. Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg, W.Va., this summer. An additional service will take place at Redwood, N.Y., during the summer.
