Userkaf rejected his predecessor's traditional burial place at Giza and instead built his pyramid near the Step Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara. He also built the first of several Sun Temples at Abu-Gurob, where a large pink granite portrait head of him, which is the largest of its kind from the Old Kingdom, was discovered in 1957.
