Marianne was 74 years of age having been on born November 23, 1935, in Loretto, Nebraska to Otis and Vera (Melvert) Bartlett.
Marianne moved with her family to Nance County, Nebraska at a young age and attended a rural grade school. She graduated from Albion (Nebraska) High School with the Class of 1953. After graduation, she worked at First National Bank of Albion and Loretta's Dress Shop, both in Albion, Nebraska.
On April 14, 1958, Marianne was united in marriage to Thomas "Tom" Smith at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska.
The couple made their home on a farm near Cedar Rapids, Nebraska where she was a homemaker, and most of all, a mother.
Marianne was a member of St. Anthony's Altar Society. She taught CCD classes for several years.
Her hobbies included ceramic painting, gardening, cooking, collecting stuffed animals, and shopping.
Marianne is survived by: husband, Tom Smith of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska; sons, Joe Smith, Jamie (Tina) Smith, and Doug Smith, all of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska; and daughter, Julie (Scott) LaBreche of Grand Island, Nebraska and a host of friends and relatives.
Marianne was welcomed into The Heavenly Home: by her parents, Otis and Vera Bartlett; sister, Betty Douthit; and brother, Bob Bartlett.
