Peter Abear, a French Canadian, emigrated to the US in 1850. Although trained as a machinist, he mainly farmed.

His first wife was Kitty Wicklund who appears to be related to Peter Wicklund. She was b in Sweden, m 1855 and d 14-Nov-1856. They had one son, Franklin E Abear, b 1856, m Caroline, d 2-Jul-1934 in Minneapolis. Caroline d 6-Sep-1945 in Minneapolis. They had one son, Berndt, unmarried.

Peter Abear (71) is listed as widowed in the 1910 US Census living in Taylors Falls, Chisago County, Minnesota with his daughter Mary L Smith (34) and son-in-law George W Smith (34). Two grand children are also listed, George H (10) and Clyde R (8) Smith.

Peter Abear (81) is found in the 1910 US Census record living in Eland, Beltrami County, Minnesota with his married daughter, Mary L Smith (44), and her sons George Harrison Smith (20) and Clude Smith (18).
