My sweet husband, Earl, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah.


Willard Earl Richardson was born on September 27, 1924 in West Jordan, Utah to Willard and Rebecca Vivian Gardner.


He married Carolyn Malmberg on June 25, 1950 in Sandy, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.


Earl served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre and established radio communications on six of the beachhead landings. Earl built his first crystal radio at the age of 12 and continued working with electronic equipment his entire life. He worked for nearly forty-two years at KSL Broadcasting as an engineer. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.


He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Susan (Mel) Recksiek; daughter-in-law, Lori Richardson (Joe) Huey; grandchildren, Shane and April Recksiek, Alexander Recksiek (serving an LDS mission in Hungary), Crista (Grant) Bushman, Eric Richardson (serving an LDS mission in Ukraine), Ryan Huey; brothers, Calvin, Duane, Jay. Preceded in death by parents; son, Brent; siblings, Fern (Jack) Douglas, Floyd.


A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street (100 East). Funeral Services will be held in the Cottonwood Creek First Ward Chapel, 1535 East Creek Road, on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment: Sandy City Cemetery.
