Our favorite "Yankee Doodle Dandy," Uncle Bill, died at his home on Wednesday, November 25, 2009. He resided at 2730 South Melbourne Street (1832 East) in the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of his death.

He lived a long and happy life, and was ready to join his family in heaven. Born July 4, 1918 to Edward Theodore Capener and Fanny Leone Turner Capener, Bill was the youngest of nine children. He was preceded in death by his siblings, his wife, LaRaie Nicholes Capener, and his son Kent William "KC" Capener.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and he and the love of his life, Aunt LaRaie, were married in the Salt Lake Temple in February 1941. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Bill was a World War II veteran and proudly served in the European campaign for three years.

For thirty-six years, he worked for Garrett Freight Lines, starting as a driver and finishing his career as a Safety Supervisor for the entire Western United States. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, and duck hunting.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Farmington City Cemetery, 500 South 200 East, Farmington, Utah
