James Addison Boyles was born in Mechanicsville, Iowa, Nov. 7th, 1859, the son of Euretta Reynolds and Jefferson Thomas Boyles. He grew to manhood in Mechanicsville and in 1885 moved to O'Brien county, Iowa, and took a homestead near Sutherland.

On June 19, 1887
he was united in marriage to Denise DeMars. To this union eight children were born: Palmer of Everly, Percy and Thomas of Chicago, Ill., Lloyd of Des Moines, Ray of Webb. Lillian Killmer of Sutherland, Delia Van Dorn of Milwaukee, Wis., and Florence Herr of St. Paul, Minn., all of whom survive.

In 1905 Mr. Boyles moved with his family to Everly. Here he lived until last fall when he went to live with his daughter, Mrs. Lillian Killmer near Sutherland. He was taken ill Thursday and passed away at the hospital m Hartley Sunday, Nov. 17, at the age of 81 years and 10 days. His wife had preceded him in death June 14th, 1937. Besides his children he is survived by 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and one sister, Lillian Johnson of Stanwood.

Funeral services were held from the Everly Methodist church Tuesday at 2 o'clock, and at the home of his son, Palmer, at 1:30. Rey. F. E. Burgess, pastor of the Grace Methodist church at Spencer, officiated. Music was furnished by Mrs. W. B Leslie and Mrs. G. W. Stuhr who sang "Death Is Only a Dream," "Rock of Ages" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul." They were accompanied
by Mrs. R. C. Murray.

Pallbearers were H. C. Clark, C. S. Evans, Chas. Hopfe, Henry Heldt, J. M. Heuck and P. H. Thlessen.

Interment was In Trlmello cemetery southwest of Everly.
