Paul Henry Huddleston, 78, of R.R. 1, Sugar Creek Estates, Glenarm, died at 2:20 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born July 29, 1911, in Carlinville, the son of George Luther and Martha Webb Huddleston. He married Mildred Meyer in 1938. He was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Burel Huddleston; and two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Crawford and Mrs. Reba Smith.

A resident of Glenarm since 1967, Mr. Huddleston was a self-employed painting Contractor for many years. He retired in 1985 from the Secretary of State's office as a paint foreman after 13 years of service.

Mr. Huddleston was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Chatham, a 38-year member of Elks Lodge 158, a member of Painters Local 90 and a 20-year member of the apprentice board of Painters Local 90. Surviving are his wife, Mildred; one daughter, Mrs. Carole Woodward of R.R. 1, Glenarm; two sons, Paul L. Huddleston of Newport, Ark., and Craige A. Huddleston of R.R. 1, Glenarm; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
