Orris Barrett, 84, of Cabot Road, Winfield Township, a veteran of the Spanish American War, died in Aspinwall Veteran's Hospital at 8 p.m. yesterday (April 11, 1960). Mr. Barrett was hospitalized a week ago with a stroke he suffered two weeks after the death of his wife, Mrs. Bessie Maude (Sufal) Barrett on March 23. He was born in Kelersburg, Armstrong County, on December 17, 1875 to John and Jane (Truitt) Barrett. He moved to Natrona in 1898 and lived there until 1902 when he moved to Freeport. He moved 38 years later to Cabot. Mr. Barrett was a retired engineer with 39 years service with Pennsylvania Railroad until his retirement in 1941. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Freeport; an honorary member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Brotherhood of Locomotive Fireman and Engineers, with more than 50 years affiliation with each organization, a member of F&AM 239, Freeport and Coudersport Consistory. He leaves three sons: Charles, Arnold; Kenneth,; and Willard, Derry; a daughter, Mrs. David King, Buffalo Twp.; two brothers, Lawrence A. Tarentum, and Robert L. Lafayette, IN three sisters; Mrs. H.B. McKinley, Cleveland, OH, Mrs. Lillian Eudy, Ocean Springs, MS, and Mrs. Frank Walker, Sarver, and five grandchildren. Friends may call at Walters-Fullerton Funeral Home after 7 this evening and from 2-4 and 7-10 p.m. tomorrow A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Paul N. Schnur, his pastor. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.
