James Lewis "Jimmy" Putman, 73, of Bonicord, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at his residence.

He was a dairy farmer, a member of Miller's Chapel Church of Christ, past president and coach in Dixie Youth Baseball programs for 29 years, chairman of the Dyer County Zoning Board, chief of Bonicord Fire Department and former Dyer County Commissioner.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. Phillip Cook and Jason Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Janie F. Putman of Friendship; two sons, Jim W. Putman and wife, Aimee, and Johnnie Putman and wife, Jennifer, all of Friendship; his father, James S. Putman and wife, Connie, of Columbia, Tenn.; three grandchildren, James Boyd Putman, Sarah Katherine Putman and Jonathan Lewis Putman; and two step-grandchildren, Jacub Hinson and Carley Hinson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Putman.

Pallbearers will be James Putman, Tom Bell, Terry Elkins, Joey Pritchett, Mickey McClure and Scotty Nash. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Putman and Sarah Putman.

The family requests that any memorials be directed to Miller's Chapel Church of Christ or Bonicord Fire Department.
