James Russell Jones, 62 years old, a prominent building contractor of San Antonio, while driving with his wife yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock on Lakeview avenue, suffered an attack of heart failure and died before medical aid could reach him. He was taken to the home of E. G. LeStourgeon on that street where he expired a few moments later. Besides his mother, Mr. Jones is survived by his wife and nine children. The children are: W. E. Jones of Dale, Mrs. W. S. Davis of San Marcos, Mrs. Ray Waters of St. Johns, Kan., Mrs. H. K. Seal of San Antonio, Mrs. Houston Minor of Coleman, Misses Frankie, Agnes, Edna and Margaret Jones of San Antonio.
Mr. Jones was a native of Kendall county and had been a resident of San Antonio during the past twenty-one years. He was a son of the late Judge William E. Jones, a former well known attorney of this city, who died at Llano, Tex., in 1870, while serving in that city as a district judge. Mr. Jones is also survived by a brother, W. K. Jones, a former county judge of Val Verde county and a member of the legislature. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon from his late residence, 1137 Matamoras street, and interment will be made in city cemetery No. 3. Rev. Mr. Lyles, pastor of the Prospect Hill Methodist church, will conduct services at the home and grave.
