Born in Salem, September 15, 1937, he was the son of the late Munroe and Dorothy (Tierney) Martin.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad Co. He enjoyed his vegetable garden, fishing, traveling and online friends.
Mr. Martin is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Martin) Clark of Sandston, Va.; two sisters, Mary Carafa of Florida and Jean and her husband, William McKenzie, of Marblehead; two grandchildren, Alissa and her husband, Andrew Brown, of Mechanicsville, Va., and Keith Clark of Sandston, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and longtime friends.
He was also predeceased by his son, Gary William Martin.
A private memorial service will be held. Donations may be made in his memory to the VA Medical Center, 421 No. Main St., Leeds, MA 01053.
