A memorial service was held Sunday, May 17, at First Lutheran Church in Fremont for Rev. B. J. Engskow, 76, who died in a hospital in Liberal, Kansas, on Wednesday, May 13, 1981.
Rev. Robert Hansen conducted the services. Private burial services were held in Elk Horn, Iowa.
B. J. Engskow was born April 12, 1906, in Jutland, Denmark, and came to Omaha with his family in the early 1920's. He attended Dana College and graduated from Omaha University and Trinity Seminary in 1935. He served at Lutheran parishes in Ruskin, Nebraska; Dannebrog, Nebraska; Indianapolis, Indiana; Geneva, Minnesota; and rural Stewart, Minnesota. He retired in 1973 and moved to Fremont in 1975.
He married the former Ninna Schultz in 1935. She survives.
Others who survive him include one son, Robert, Springfield, Virginia; and one daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Rebecca) Gnuse, Arlington. Five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John (Dagmar) Pedersen, Estes Park, Colorado, three brothers, Ernst, Aalborg, Denmark; John, Winston, Salem, North Carolina; and Gunnar, Fort Smith, Arkansas; and nieces and nephews also survive him.
