"C.W. 'Bill' Bailey 1931 - 2005

C.W. 'Bill' Bailey was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Tucson, to Guy Madison and Callie Lucille Bailey. He died May 11, 2005.

He was a beloved father to daughter Gita Malin Bailey of Shipman, Va., (1988 Willcox graduate) and son Quirt Bailey of Kansas City, Kansas. He is also survived by his paternal aunt Mary Lee Couey of Abilene, Texas.

Bill was in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He loved the outdoors and anything to do with land, cattle, horses and nature. He lived out West most of his life ranching until his health declined and he moved to Virginia where he was cared for by his daughter Gita and ex-wife Lena.

He found great joy his last few years feeding the birds around his home and caring for an old raccoon. He also enjoyed his dogs, who stayed by his side night and day.

After moving to Virginia, he missed his church and the special friends he had made there. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Church of the Nazarene, 1107 Garlington Rd., Bowie, Texas, 76230.

Bill now rests in peace at the Ligon Family Cemetery in Shipman, Va. Reverend John P. Campbell conducted the ceremony, where the local V.F. W. Post #7701 conducted Military Rites with a 21-gun salute, along with presentation of the U.S. flag to his daughter. Opening song "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones, closing song "Going Where the Lonely Go" by Merle Haggard.

He will be deeply missed by all who benefited from his kindness and generosity. He was one of the "old-timers" and a real cow puncher."
