Ben Frank Ayers was born 27 Dec 1873 in Floyd Co, Ga and died 22 Feb 1934, in Floyd Co. His WWI registration description was that he was tall, had black hair, blue eyes, and had only one arm. The registration was on 12 Sep 1918 and he was 44 years old at that time.

He was the son of Jessie P Ayers and Margaret Ann Vaughn Ayers. His Vaughn grandparents were John and Martha Vaughan. They are also buried at Beech Creek. His siblings were: Georgia (m. Allen), Liza Jane, Abner E., and Martha C. Ayers. Ben Frank was the youngest of these.

The 1880 Census showed him living with his parents and the above siblings. In 1900 he was living with his maternal aunt, Mary S.J. Vaughn Brock and her family. In 1920, he was living with his sister, Georgia Allen in the Glenwood District of Floyd County. 1930 Census had him living in Armuchee with his brother Abner and his family. Abner's wife was Lizzie and their children were: Kittie, Jessie M, Inez, and Bertha V. Ayers. Frank died 4 years later.

Well-Known Farmer Drops Dead In Yard Of Residence Thursday Afternoon

Funeral services for Benjamin Franklin Ayers, 63, who died suddenly Thursday afternoon at the residence of his niece, Mrs. P. K. Pennington on route number 5 near Coosa, will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Beech Creek Methodist church. The Rev. Clifton Freeman, of Cartersville, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. K. C. Baker, pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Mr. Ayers was apparently in the best of health just prior to his death. He was in the front yard when, without warning, he dropped upon the ground and was dead when reached, having suffered a heart attack.

Mr. Ayers had been a resident of Floyd county all his life, and was a well-known farmer of this section. His death comes as a great shock to his many friends. For many years he had been a member of the Mountain Springs Methodist church.

Surviving him are two brothers, Morgan Ayers, of Trion, and J.D. Ayers of Rome, and several nieces and nephews.

The following friends are requested to serve as pallbearers and meet at the residence at 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning: active pallbearers, Russell Perry, Sherman Ayers, Franklin Perry, P. K. Pennington, Harold and Lee Perry; honorary pallbearers, R. L. Perry, H. Weeks, Will Spragin, John Brock, Will Walker and Will Dowdy. Interment will be in the Beech Creek cemetery.
