" Mrs. Ella Bowling, beloved wife of Mr. Isom Bowling, died at the family home at Formosa early Sunday morning April 30, 1933, following an illness of several months. Her condition was not regarded as critical until about two weeks before her death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Union Hill church house Monday by her pastor Rev. Claude Jenkins, in the presence of many sorrowing friends and relatives. Interment took place at the Union Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Bowling was born at Formosa January 17, 1874, the daughter of Weck and Merry Winningham, and at time of her death was 59 years, 3 months and 13 days old.
Her marriage to Isom M. Bowling took place Jan 24, 1895. To their union thirteen children were born and nine of whom, two boys and seven girls, survive, as follows:
Laudis, Lester, Willie now Mrs. Tom Lefler of Rawlings, Wyo., Edna, now Mrs. Burt Bradley of Clinton, Maude, now Mrs. Olen Hunter, of Culpepper Mountain, Irene, now Mrs. Johnnie Bryant of Center Ridge, Alta, Ora and Cleone of Formosa. With the exception of Mrs. Lefler all were present when the final summons came.
Besides her immediate family, Mrs. Bowling is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lonnie Goatcher and Mrs. O. M. Bowman, and four brothers, Jim, Lee, Bell and Tom Winningham, all of Formosa.
She made a profession of religion at the age of eighteen, joining the Missionary Baptist church and lived the life of a consistent christian ever afterwards.
As wife and mother, friend and neighbor, she was faithful, kind, loving and true, enjoying to a marked degree the confidence and esteem of all who knew her."
