Gary Lee Loyd, 61, St. Joseph, passed from this life Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at Heartland Hospital, St. Joseph. He died due to complications from agent orange from the Vietnam Era.
He was born March 17, 1947, in St. Joseph, to Robert and Rowena (Graves) Loyd.
Gary served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
Gary married Maureen Scanlan on Sept. 28, 1973, in Troy, Kan. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1996.
He then married Joyce Custer on Aug. 9, 2008, in St. Joseph.
Gary was a warehouse supervisor for ADM in Keokuk, Iowa. He attended Central Assembly of God Church, St. Joseph, was a member of American Legion No. 359, life member of V.F.W. No. 1668, and a past post chaplain.
Gary enjoyed watching TV and dancing.
Survivors: his wife, Joyce Custer-Loyd, of the home; his parents, Robert and Rowena Loyd, St. Joseph; son, Micah Loyd and Angelina, St. Joseph; daughters, Alicia Loyd and Travis, St. Joseph, Regina Smith and Perry, Pahrump, Nev.; stepdaughters, Debbie Eiman and Tim, and Kim Custer, all of St. Joseph; brother, Dennis Loyd, St. Joseph; two grandchildren, Drake Andrews and Miah Loyd; four step grandchildren, Lucas Eiman and Beth, Matthew Eiman, Michael Eiman and Amber Custer; two step great-grandchildren, Brayden and Jensen Eiman; and several cousins.
Celebration of Life: 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at Gladden-Stamey Chapel. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary Cemetery, Corning, Iowa. Public viewing and family receiving hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial donations can be made to Prostate Cancer Research.
