Funeral services for George R. Ponder,82 who passed away here yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter;Mrs. J.R. Griffith of Buffalo, after a lingering illness were to be held this afternoon at 5 o'clock at Putman Baptist Church with the Rev. J.R.Moore officiating and interment was to follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were to be Claude, Edgar, L.M., Hobson, Haskell and Louis West.
Other surviors are his wife,Mrs. Maggie Ponder; four sons, O.F. Ponder and O.L. Ponder of Pauline, D.E. Ponder of Gastonia,N.C. and Asbly Ponder of Buffalo; three daughters, Mrs. W.F. Caldwell, Kannapolis,N.C.Mrs. L.C.Cudd of Chester and Mrs. H.S. Banks (name misspelled in obit) should be Mrs. H.S. Brank of Gastonia;one brother A.T.Ponder of Hope, Ark; one-half brother,Oscar West, of Fort Worth, Texas.
