"SAMUEL N. HOLLIDAY DEAD
Seized With Apoplexy During the Night and Expired in His Room on St. Charles Street.
Samuel N. Holliday, aged 48, bookkeeper for the Wrought Iron Range Company, was found dead in his room at 517 St. Charles street at 9 o'clock Monday morning. Though there was an air of mystery about the sudden death, Dr. George F. Hulbert, the Lindell Hotel physician, who was called into the case, pronounced the cause apoplexy.
Mr. Holliday was a bachelor and had lived in the apartments where he died for several years. His sister is the wife of J. H. Wear of Wear, Boogher & Co., and his mother is living in the city at the home of her daughter, 3650 Washington boulevard.
The relatives were greatly shocked when the news of Mr. Holliday's death was conveyed to them.
He had visited his mother and sister on Sunday and was in a most cheerful mood. During the evening he was downtown and met numerous friends and to none of them did he even intimate that he was not in his usual good health and spirits.
At 10:30 o'clock Mr. Holliday went to his room and retired. Nothing was thought wrong with him until the chambermaid found his room locked at an hour when the occupant was usually at his employer's desk.
The girl knocked at the door, but could get no response. She told Mr. Hall, the proprietor, who found his patron and friend lying on the bed, a corpse.
Mr. Holliday had carefully looked after his clothing when he retired.
Dr. Hurlbert said Mr. Holliday had been dead at least six hours when he called.
Mr. Holliday was unmarried. He formerly was employed by Wear, Boogher & Co., but has been with the Wrought Iron Range Company about twelve years.
The arrangements for the funeral have not been announced."
