She was born March 02, 1822 in Jamestown, North Carolina, and died July 04, 1913 in Putnam, DeKalb Co. Tennessee.

Francis Marion Wilkerson's pension, filed by his widow Mary Ann, indicated they married in DeKalb County, Tennessee with William Cantrell officiating. Cantrell was thought to be a relation of his mother, Serena Cantrell Wilkerson.

Francis Marion Wilkerson, a farmer in DeKalb County, was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War. He served in Company C, 1 Battalion (Colm's) Tennessee Infantry, Capt. Perry Adcock's Company of Tennessee Volunteers. He was captured at Fort Donelson, Tennessee on February 16, 1862 and held prisoner at Camp Morton, Indiana. He was involved in a prisoner exchange and reported to Jackson, Mississippi on September 12, 1862. He enlisted as a private and had attained the rank of 4th Sergeant by the time of his death, September 19, 1863, at the Battle of Chicamauga, Georgia.

Francis Marion Wilkerson's burial location is not known. It is thought he may be buried near Chattanooga, Tennessee.
