Daisy Mae Ferguson was born on 28 May 1882 in Weimer, Colorado County, Texas, the 2nd of 9 children of Henry Thornton Ferguson and Mary Alice Elvira Duke Ferguson. On 13 December 1899 in Weimer, Daisy married Frederick Richter, the son of Frank Richter and Anna Blaschke Richter. The newly-wed couple lived for a time near Weimer with Daisy's parents where Fred and Henry were engaged in farming.

Later, Daisy and Fred moved to Van Vleck, Matagorda County, Texas. They became the parents of two daughters: Mamie Myra Richter in 1903 and Douglas Elzira Richter in 1907. A son, Fred Jr., was born and died about 1905.

Their family was devastated when Fred died in Van Vleck on 19 October 1908 from pernicious malarial fever. Fred was only 28 years of age. Daisy was left with their two little daughters, Mamie, age 5, and Douglas, age 10 months.

On 26 January 1910 in Wharton County, Texas, Daisy married Peter J. Yackel. They had three children together: Jesse H. in 1911, Alice Mae in 1915, and Walter Lee in 1917.
By 1920, Daisy was divorced from Peter Yackel. Daisy resumed the surname of her deceased first husband - Richter.

About 1922, Daisy and her children moved to Taiton, Wharton County, Texas, where Daisy's sister-in-law, Louisa Richter Jurasek, was living near the Schoenfield farm. Daisy and Fred's daughter, Douglas, met "the boy next door," Leo Schoenfield. Douglas Elzira Richter married Leo William Schoenfield on 15 Dec 1926 in Taiton. With Leo's widowed father, Paul Schoenfield, they ranched and farmed. Paul fell in love with Douglas' mother, Daisy. On 1 April 1929, Daisy married Paul Schoenfield.

Daisy and Paul lived in Taiton, farming and ranching until Paul Schoenfield's death from pneumonia on 1 February 1951 at the age of 74. Daisy lived another nine years, spending her last years living in a small house next door to her daughter, Alice Mae Yackel Schoelman, and near her daughter Douglas Richter Schoenfield, in Taiton.

Daisy died at home in Taiton, Wharton County, Texas on 18 February 1960, age 77, from pneumonia after a stroke 6 weeks previously.
