MATTHEW ALLEN "Matt" BANKS, 47, of Darlington, S.C., formerly of Huntington, died Friday, March 11, 2005, peacefully at his residence. He was born April 20, 1957, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Samuel Allen "Sam" Banks. He was a graduate of Huntington High School and served in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Infantry from 1975 to 1978. He also served in the U.S. Marines from 1987 to 1990, when he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David and Merle Banks of Huntington; maternal grandparents, Ott and Margaret Wilson of Huntington; his aunt, Sally Tatum of Huntington; Uncle Jack Banks of Arcadia, Calif.; and cousin, Chris Tatum of Ona. He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Reed Banks of Darlington, S.C.; mother, Lois Gallamore Banks of Las Vegas, Nev.; mother-in-law, Lou Ann Reed of Huntington; sister and brother-in-law, Greg and Jacqui Banks Zipperian of Chesapeake, Ohio; two nephews, Ryan and Zack Zipperian, also of Chesapeake; two very special aunts, Peggy Gallamore Mapes of Las Vegas and Isabelle Banks Belcher of Charleston, W.Va.; and his best friend, Richard Shelby of Huntington. Also surviving are uncles and cousins. Matt loved Marshall football and NASCAR racing. He will be greatly missed by his family and many wonderful friends. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ferrell Funeral Home Chapel with full military rites; burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington
