Richard Benjamin Harrison was a son of John Harrison (1719-1761) and the Sarah [née Daniel] Harrison (1725-1761). On December 16th 1774, Richard Harrison married Miss Anne Nancy Patillo, daughter of Henry and Mary Mildred [née Anderson] Patillo.

Richard and Anne had the following known children:

James Patillo (1789-1790)

Richard Benjamin Harrison was a veteran of the Revolutionary War; serving in the North Carolina Militia and fought in various battles through out Virginia & The Carolinas, including Battle at Cowpens. After the war, Richard settled in Ninety-six District, South Carolina; where he owned vast acres of land and practiced medicine.

Dr. Richard Benjamin Harrison departed this life on October 22nd 1791, just thirty-eight days before the birth of his youngest daughter, Sarah was born. He was laid to rest in the churchyard cemetery at Nazareth Presbyterian Church; where he had been a Ruling Elder.
