W.S. Stambaugh
Winfield Scott Stambaugh was born Dec. 29, 1848, in Johnson Co, Kentucky, and departed this life at his home near Okarche, Jan. 13, 1919. Mr. Stambaugh spent the earlier part of his life in his native state, then seeing great opportunities in the golden west he decided to try his fortune there. Here he took up the homestead on which he lived until he answered the final summons. In early manhood Mr. Stambaugh married Miss Elizabeth Pelphrey, who together with eight children survive him. Two other children preceded their father across the great divide. Those living are W.I. Stambaugh, Okarche; Mrs. J.R. Smith, Smithville; J.V. Stambaugh, Abernathy, TX; F.P. Stambaugh, Hale Center, Texas; Mrs. J.P. Gore, Clinton; Mrs. W.E. Brown, Bremerton, Wash.; Mrs. A.L. Ball, Ardmore; Mrs. P.V. Heinen, Tulsa. Besides these and other relatives, Mr. Stambaugh leaves scores of friends who regret and mourn his loss
