Died July 10, 1892, at her home eight miles northeast of El Reno of cancer, Maria, wife of David D. Shaw, aged 54 years. Deceased's maiden name was Maria Tobine, she was born in Canada, in July 20, 1838. After patiently suffering with the dreaded disease of cancer for the past ten years, she quietly passed to her home where she will have no more sickness and pain. She leaves a loving husband and three grown children to whom the tender name of wife and mother will now be only a gracious memory.
Coming to their homestead in Canadian county at the opening of Oklahoma, Mr. and Mrs. Shaw had only about fitted up their home so as to spend their old age in quiet comfort, when the aged husband is called on to part with her, who had been the faithful partner of his joys and sorrows for many years. She had been a faithful and consistent member of the Baptist church for more then forty years.
